GOOGLE TV IS NOW ABLE TO HANDLE MULTIPLE USER ACCOUNTS

In late 2020, the Chromecast with Google TV was expected to launch with its own version of the Google TV software and interface. When it comes to personalisation and smart suggestions, Google’s newest effort at bringing its services in front of your eyes while watching TV was a launcher that placed personalization and smart recommendations at the forefront. Aside from the addition of child accounts so you don’t have to endure endless Baby Shark-adjacent suggestions, Google vowed to offer more user profiles on its TV service. That functionality has finally arrived after many lengthy delays and a sluggish deployment.

A server-side upgrade is now live, allowing Google TV customers to add multiple user profiles to their devices. However, this may need a reboot or reinstallation of the Google TV software. Personally, I was greeted with a “Introducing profiles on Google TV” splash screen after restarting my Chromecast with Google TV.

With additional Google accounts, you’ll be able to personalise your interface with watchlists and suggestions according to your watching patterns. This should save you some time and prevent you from having to expose your spouse to suggestions of your own guilty loves, such as anime episodes or wrestling documentaries, while also allowing you to watch more.
